Chinese ecommerce has driven a 31% increase in package deliveries across the country. Data released by the Chinese State Post Bureau has shown that in the first six months of this year, 17.32 billion parcels were delivered, 70% of which came from online sales. It was also shown that 98% of those sales were domestic, rather than cross-border. The global sector is growing, however, with 360 million international parcels being delivered in the first half of this year, a 29% increase on last year. Alibaba's online marketplaces Tmall and Taobao accounted for around 70% of Chinese online retail sales during this time period.
